Born and raised in Oxnard, CA, I joined the Navy right out of high school—to see the world, grow into a man, and make my parents proud. By the grace of God, I achieved my 20-year goal and retired from the Navy, but my belly wasn’t full—I still wanted to serve.
I became a NBVC Navy Gold Star Coordinator, providing long-term support to families who lost a Sailor on active duty, guiding them as they found their new normal. For five years, I covered California, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and China, walking alongside Gold Star families on their journey.
Yet, I felt a calling to support service members while they were still alive and fighting. That led me to NBVC Navy Wounded Warrior as a Recovery Care Coordinator—helping active-duty service members through the tough road of Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration. It’s a blessing to stand with them in their most vulnerable moments and be part of the Navy Region Southwest Wounded Warrior team, a powerhouse from top to bottom.
Supporting my Brothers and Sisters in uniform and their families is more than a job—it’s an honor that delivers an uncanny feeling deep in my soul. Being forced onto a new path in life can feel insurmountable, but helping someone rediscover resilience, strength, and empowerment—teaching them how to breathe again—is priceless.
As a civilian, I’ve been honored with the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award and Civilian of the Quarter for my work.
Happily married to Jocelyn, blessed with three amazing kids (Destiny, Jessica, and Gabriel) and two granddaughters (Mila & Nova) who keep me on my toes. Every day brings challenges and opportunities—I give thanks and stay on the positive side of life!
