What is a Recovery Shot?

In golf, a recovery shot is a shot that gives you a chance to come back from a daunting hazard or obstacle and salvage your game. The same can be said for the Recovery Shot program. We’re dedicated to giving our Recovery golfers a shot to get back in the game of life through our program of free golf and free clinics to be enjoyed with a buddy, also free.

What is Adaptive Golf?

Adaptive golf is golf that is literally adapted to your special needs and abilities, allowing you to play at your own pace and comfort level with modified or specialized adaptive equipment when needed.

Golf is Good Therapy

Medical and practical evidence abounds that golf is powerfully good therapy. From the invigorating benefits of fresh air to the heart-warming camaraderie of fellow golfers to the restorative power of low-impact exercise, golf delivers an opportunity for happier healing. Importantly, golf improves the brain’s neuroplasticity, its ability to compensate for injury and disease, and to relearn brain functions that have been lost or compromised. Our Co-Founder knows this from firsthand experience.

To Become A Recovery Golfer

Plain and simple, we provide free golf to you and your buddy once a week for six months and/or free clinics.

Are you new to golf? Start with a clinic or, if you or your buddy have a little experience, you can also start on the driving range or putting green. Summer 2023 clinic information coming soon!

Are you an experienced golfer? Start where you’re most comfortable.

The Recovery Shot program is being conducted in Ventura County, CA but don’t let that stop you from applying if you live in a surrounding county.  We will refer you to an adaptive golf program closer to you OR try to engage a course near you to partner with us.

Recovery Shot golfers and a buddy can currently play at Spanish Hills Club in Camarillo, CA on Tuesdays through Sundays after 1 PM.

Facts:

  • The Recovery Shot program operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the program is at capacity, you’ll be put on a waiting list and contacted when there are openings.
  • Qualification for participation in the Recovery Shot program will be determined by the Recovery Shot Program Committee.  We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
  • You are not required to play every week on the same day at the same time. There is flexibility.
  • After being accepted into the program, we’ll familiarize you with common sense golf etiquette and dress codes.
  • The Recovery golfer may be asked for medical proof of trauma, injury, or illness.
